Introduction

On 15 August 2026, an outreach was carried out at the Military Hospital in Kaduna for injured soldiers of the Nigerian Armed Forces. The visit was led by Nwovu Uchenna Ezekiel and was organised to show appreciation, solidarity and care for men who have been wounded while serving the nation.

Purpose of the Outreach

Soldiers carry the burden of protecting the country, and many return from duty with injuries that change their lives. The purpose of this outreach was to remind these men that they are seen, respected and not forgotten. The team set out to lift their spirits, spend time with them, and present them with gifts as a token of gratitude for their sacrifice.

Activities on the Day

The team visited the wards and spent time with the injured soldiers, sitting with them, speaking with them and sharing in their company. The atmosphere was warm and positive, and the soldiers received the team with smiles. Several of the men proudly wore medals during the visit, a reminder of the service and courage behind each of them. A key part of the outreach was the presentation of gift packs. Each pack was prepared in a branded paper bag, hand-decorated with a smiley face, and packed with items meant to bring comfort and cheer. The bags were arranged and handed out to the soldiers individually, so that every beneficiary received a personal gift.

Impact

The visit brought visible joy to the soldiers. Smiles, thumbs-up and shared moments captured during the outreach show how much a simple act of kindness can mean to someone in recovery. Beyond the gifts, the presence of the team gave the soldiers company, encouragement and a sense of being valued by the public they serve.

Acknowledgements

Special appreciation goes to Nwovu Uchenna Ezekiel for leading the outreach, and to everyone who contributed time, effort and resources to make the day a success. Gratitude also goes to the management and staff of the Military Hospital, Kaduna, for their cooperation and support during the visit.

Conclusion

The outreach to injured soldiers at the Military Hospital, Kaduna, was a meaningful gesture of respect for those who have given so much for Nigeria. It is hoped that it inspires more individuals and organisations to support the nation’s wounded heroes, and the team remains committed to similar initiatives in the future.
